How to create prompts that improve as you work — the PROMPT+ Loop, a prompt scorecard, repair checklist, and reusable library.
1. Start here
Most people do not need a folder of 500 prompts. They need one prompt system they can reuse. Most AI advice treats prompting like a trick — add this phrase, say "act as" — which sometimes helps but never gives you a working system.
A better prompt does three things: tells the AI what job it's doing, gives it the context it wouldn't otherwise know, and defines what a good answer looks like. Better prompts aren't longer — they're clearer, because they remove guessing.
2. The PROMPT+ Loop
PROMPT+ is a reusable prompting format: Purpose (what you're trying to accomplish), Role (who the AI should act like), Operating context (situation, audience, constraints), Materials (source text, notes, data), Parameters (tone, rules, limits), and Target format (what the answer should look like).
The plus sign is the important part: Test and Tune. Most people write a prompt, get an answer, and stop. PROMPT+ adds a review loop so the prompt improves as the work continues.
3. Score, repair, and reuse
The guide includes a prompt scorecard for grading AI outputs, a repair checklist for diagnosing weak prompts (vague answers usually mean missing audience, situation, or examples), and a "prompt improver" prompt that has the AI strengthen your prompt for you.
It ends with the prompt library system — a simple table for your best prompt versions, inputs, output formats, and review criteria — plus a beginner ladder that takes you from plain asks to fully specified prompts with review criteria.
